Day 6 Waste

Waste: an action or use that results in an unnecessary loss of something valuable.

My thoughts on this one is sometimes we have something valuable and we let it fade away. It is only after our loss do we realize the value. In this piece I wanted to give the diamond in the center value then with gradation show it loosing value then when it was gone the realization of value.

Day 5  Communication

Communication: to exchange information or to express your ideas, thoughts, feeling, etc., to someone else.

I choose this definition because I feel true communication only comes when you hear what the other person is saying.

Day 4 Chaos

Chaos  - The definition I like is: Any condition or place of disorder or confusion. 

 I think we were all glad to see such a familiar word. I have no doubt when someone comes into my studio that they see a state of chaos. Kiln formed glass is a process and when one piece is firing I am working on another piece to finish it or to start it.  I even have to say to myself sometimes focus to know where to start. So welcome to my studio.

 

Now back to the studio to find my way.

The door had too much importance in my drawing so I redid it to make it more of the design.

Day3 
Generosity
  : the quality of being kind, understanding, and not selfish : the quality of being generous; especially: willingness to give money and other valuable things to others.

Yesterday I thought my piece of the sun on the water did not look as abstract as I felt it should. I was thinking I was using texture to depict my thought but I feel it looked to physical so I have revisited the definition of ABSTRACT.

Abstract nouns are intangible, and do not have a physical or concrete existence. Abstract existing in thought or as an idea but not having a physical or concrete existence. 

My thoughts today: When I think of generosity I think of giving to others; I think of giving time; I think of giving of yourself. So I wanted my piece to have circles representing time and or people. I wanted one to seem filled up and less important than the second one who is filling up from the first. 

I am not sure if I accomplished my thought because I know my own intent. If is up to the viewer to comment. 

Day 2
Definition of effulgence:  radiant splendor :  brilliance


I woke up to a new word and a colder day than yesterday, it was -14.
Effulgence the first thing that comes to mind when I see the word radiant is heat.
The word splendor and brilliance takes to where I was yesterday on a beach somewhere. I have always noticed when the sun is just right on the ocean how it shines with radiant splendor. So even though it's not total abstract the thought  I tried to create a design with that in mind. I was trying not to define it total not sure I succeeded. When I went to photograph it the light was hitting just right and there it was. I think how you photograph your work is important but not wanting to cheat I will include both pictures.

I had missed the part about being abstract so this is my abstract version of "Comfort".

 We are drawing again thanks to Kelly the January challenge is on. I have had to refresh myself with the blog and how to do things.

 This year we will be given an noun to inspire us to complete a simple 15-20 min drawing to warm up our creative juices.
